Dexafort ®
Name: Dexafort suspension for injection, white, odorless
Ingredients: 1 ml of the product contains:dexamethasone phenylpropionate – 2.67 mg; dexamethasone sodium phosphate – 1.32 mg. Excipients: water for injections, benzyl alcohol, natrii citras, sodium chloride, tragacanth, methyl cellulose, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid.
Pharmacological properties: АТС vet classification code QII02 – corticosteroids for system use. QH02AB02 – Dexamethasone Dexamethasone is a potent corticosteroid. The maximum concentration of dexamethasone in the plasma of blood in cattle, horses and dogs is reached 60 minutes after intramuscular administration. Bioavailability after intramuscular administration is 100%. It easily passes through the placental barrier. It is metabolized in the liver. It is excreted with urine.
Application: Treatment of cattle, horses, pigs, dogs and cats, suffering from arthritis, bursitis, tendovaginitis, allergic dermatitis, primary ketoses, acetonemia, mastites, agalactium, eczema, as well as at labor paresis
Dosage: pigs, cattle, horses – intramuscularly at a dose of 0.02 ml of the preparation per 1 kg of weight
Dogs, cats – intramuscularly, subcutaneously at a dose of 0.05 ml of the preparation per 1 kg of body weight.
The product is administered once. If necessary, the injection can be repeated in 7 days.
Contraindications: Do not use with osteoporosis, diabetes, heart and kidney disease, pregnancy.
Warnings: in case of infectious diseases, it should be used only in conjunction with an etiotropic (antimicrobial or other) therapy.
Except for ketosis and induction of labor, corticosteroids, as a rule, improve the condition, but do not heal, so you need to pay attention to the diagnosis of the underlying cause of the disease.
Pharmaceutical form: 50 ml glass vial type II, closed with a halogen-butyl cork with aluminum rigging.
Storage: Keep in a dry, dark place inaccessible for children at temperatures of 15 °C up to 25 °C.
The use of corticosteroids in the early stages of pregnancy can cause fetal pathology. The use in the final stages of pregnancy can cause induction of labor.
When applied during lactation, a slight decrease in milk productivity may occur.
Due to the possible reduction of the immune response to vaccination, Dexafort is not recommended in combination with vaccines.
Shelf life: 24 months. After first take-off from the vial, the product should be used within 28 days, provided it is stored at a temperature of 2 °C up to 8 °C.
