The National Police of Ukraine held an all-Ukrainian competition among canine handlers with service dogs of the Security and Defense Forces.
The two-day competition, organized by the National Police of Ukraine for canine handlers with specialized dogs trained to detect explosive substances, took place in Mukachevo and brought together 53 teams from different regions and structures of the state’s security and defense sector. The event became a platform for professional exchange of experience and a demonstration of the skills of canine handlers and their service dogs. Representatives of canine units of the National Police of Ukraine, the State Guard Department of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and Ukrzaliznytsia took part in the competition.
As noted by Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine and Head of the Criminal Police Andrii Niebytov, since 2022, canine units have carried out more than 15,000 deployments and detected over 11,000 explosive objects. This year alone, they have helped find 122 missing people, including 65 children.
The BRAVECTO® brand of MSD Animal Health supported the competition and provided the prize fund for the participants.
It is important for us to support events that highlight the professionalism of canine handlers, the importance of service dogs, and their vital role in the safety and protection of Ukraine.
We thank the canine handlers and their four-legged partners for their service, endurance, and daily work for the safety of people.
