Name: Shotapen LA (suspension for injection), a white suspension
Ingredients: 100 ml of the product contains the active substance:
procaine benzylpenicillin
benzathine benzylpenicillin
dihydrostreptomycin sulfate
Excipients: Procaine hydrochloride, sodium ethyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium citrate.
Pharmacological properties: Combined antibacterial drug consisting of procaine benzylpenicillin, benzathine benzylpenicillin and dihydrostreptomycin sulfate.
Penicillins are highly active against gram-positive microorganisms (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium diphtheriae, and others). The basis of the mechanism of action is the interruption into the synthesis of (mucopeptide) peptidoglycan, inhibiting the synthesis of the cell wall of the microorganism, growth and reproduction of bacteria. Dihydrostreptomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that acts bactericidal to gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms (Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., E. coli, Klebsiella spp., Hemophilus spp., Brucella spp., Shigella spp., Mycobacterium spp.).
Application: Treatment of cattle, pigs, horses, dogs and cats, suffering from leptospirosis, purulent and secondary infections.
Dosage: Intramuscularly or subcutaneously, at a dose of 1 ml of the drug per 10 kg of body weight once. In severe cases, re-administration of the drug is recommended after 3 days.
Before use, thoroughly shake the vial.
Contraindications: increased sensitivity to penicillins and dihydrostreptomycin. Do not apply to rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other small herbivores, as well as animals with impaired kidney function. Do not use simultaneously with other antibiotics containing antagonism (gentamicin or Kanamycine).
Withdrawal period: Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed respectively in 35 (pigs) and 49 (cattle) days after last administration of the product. Milk consumption in food is allowed 5 days after last administration of the product. Meat and milk obtained before that period is utilized or fed to unproductive animals, depending on the conclusion of the veterinarian.
Pharmaceutical form: 50, 100 and 250 ml glass vials with rubber stoppers and flip off aluminum caps
Storage: Keep in a dry, dark place inaccessible for children at temperatures of 10 °C up to 25 °C.
